Michael Guthrie became the Broker and CEO of Roy Wheeler Realty in 2005. Michael has been a Realtor since 1982 and has been successfully managing real estate offices since 1986. He is known for his caring attitude and for helping agents find their own way of becoming successful in real estate sales. Before coming to Roy Wheeler, he was Vice President and Managing Broker of the Long and Foster Reston office. His office was not only the #1 office in the Reston/Herndon area (over $750,000,000 in sales in 2005) but was known for its’ commitment to excellence, and giving back to the community. Since coming to Roy Wheeler, the company has grown from one office to six and now has more than 125 Realtors operating their businesses under his supervision. Michael’s commitment to community service was recognized when he received the prestigious “Best of Reston” award in 1999 and the Reston Chamber’s Citizen of the year in 2005. Since coming to Charlottesville, Michael has been named Realtor of the Year for CAAR, the Charlottesville Chamber’s Small Business person of the year and in 2015, the Virginia Association of Realtors’ Manager of the Year. Michael has a passion for and has been teaching classes and coaching agents and management for many years. He has taught for realtor associations and companies like Long and Foster and McEnearney and Associates and has also recently started teaching GRI classes in Virginia. He has spoken to the staffs for Leading RE, The Daily Progress Newspaper, and Movement Mortgage. Michael graduated from the University of Virginia in 1975 and received his Masters from UVa in 1976. He has been married to Dottie for 38 years and has three children, 35, 33 and 30 along with three grandchildren.
